CoastWatchers falls under the Marine Watch umbrella and is the result of local communities and organisations uniting to support SANParks in their marine conservation duties for the Table Mountain and Robben Island Marine Protected Areas. We also collect valuable baseline data for SANParks Scientific Services and contribute to the iNaturalist database through the Marine Watch – Table Mountain MPA Project.

The Table Mountain MPA is divided into Sections overseen by volunteer coordinators to streamline reporting and the dissemination of important information to communities, and to facilitate engagement activities in each of the Sections to encourage active citizenry in the marine conservation space.
